Jamie Vardy smashed home a sensational 30-yard volley on the hour mark to send Foxes fans into raptures at the King Power Stadium.
The 29-year-old scored his second of the game, his 18th of a
record-breaking season, to sink the Reds. Liverpool drop to eighth as a result of the loss – 11 points off fourth-placed Arsenal – with only one win in their last five Premier League outings.
RANIERI and KLOPP react to Jamie Vardy remarkable goal against
Jurgen Klopp hailed Jamie Vardy’s wonder-strike as
“goal of the month” – but he wished it hadn’t come against Liverpool. Klopp was disappointed with his side’s performance bur he still credited
Vardy for his strike.
Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri heaped plaudits on striker Jamie Vardy for his ‘unbelievable’ goal in the 2-0 win over Liverpool at the King Power Stadium Tuesday evening.
Vardy’s brace ensured the Foxes remain on top of the Premier League.
Shortly after he doubled the lead from closer range to keep Leicester top of the league and seal a massive win.
“Amazing; the first goal was unbelievable,” Ranieri told the BBC.
“We played very well and pressed a lot against a very good team. Jamie is very fast and can create a lot but it was unbelievable how Mahrez found him and how he had the time to see the keeper out of the goal and scored a fantastic goal.
“The team is in good condition. Now it is important to recover the energy because we have to run a lot against Manchester City. We are free of pressure. The players have a good feeling,” the former Chelsea claimed.
