Nigerian famous Afropop singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun (stage name: Wizkid) has made shocking revelation in recent interview with Capital Xtra.

Wizkid has revealed  that he left his last label, EME, with zero naira even though he already became a household name at the time.

He added that he was spending between $300 (N108, 300) and $400 (N144, 400) on food every day, while he was residing in Los Angeles, US.

Wizkid, the renown ‘Ojuelegba’ singer when asked the inspiration behind the song replied “It was crazy because when I was making that song. That was the last album for my label [which] I was signed to at that time

“I was in a different space. You know it was a space that I was about to leave and start afresh for myself. I feel a lot of energy but I at the same time, I was like ‘it is a lot of responsibilities’

“I [Wizkid] am a firm believer of if you think of anything, then you can achieve it. I know definitely something [good] is going to happen.”

“When I left EME, nobody knows the story. I literally had to leave with zero naira. And I was Wizkid!”

Wizkid left Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) record label to start his own record label “Star Boy”.

In the interview with Capital Xtra, which is available on its YouTube channel, Wizkid said that he only eats Nigerian food, regardless of where he is in the world, hence his willingness to get a cook to make the food.

When asked how long, he stayed in the American city, Wizkid said, “Almost two years. I got bored.”
