The taxi driver of the horror crash which left six dead and one critically injured this morning has been named as father-of-six Imtiaz Mohammed.
The crash, described as ‘very serious’, happened on Lee Bank Middleway, near Edgbaston, at around 1.10am this morning.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said there had been a ‘number of fatalities’ in the crash which closed the stretch of road from Islington Row to Bristol Street.
The driver of a taxi, Mr Mohammed, died at the scene along with a female passenger. A male passenger died later in hospital.

The force earlier tweeted that the scene was ‘very difficult and upsetting’.
Horrifying pictures of the scene showed a number of crumpled vehicles strewn along the main road.
The 33-year-old, was confirmed by family members as the taxi driver who was pronounced dead at the scene.
