Court arraigns herbalist for helping injured kidnappers
A herbalist, Williams Ebulefu has been arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt for allegedly helping criminals with bullet wounds.
The herbalist was implicated when he tried to extract bullets from the body of a suspected kidnapper, Charles Orlu who has also been arraigned before the same court on a three-count charge of murder, cultism and Kidnapping.
According to the charge sheet, Orlu is alleged to have killed one Chisom Worlu on the 18th of December 2019 along Omuakwuru community farm road in Igboo-Etche, Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Orlu is also alleged to have conspired with some others now at large to Kidnap their victim around Eliozu who was later released within Eleme after a ransom of N3.5million was paid.
But Senior Magistrate, Emmanuella Okerie declined jurisdiction and referred the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution for advice then adjourned till February 16, 2020 for mention.
However, the herbalist who identified himself as, Chief Priest Williams Ebulefu was charged with illegal possession of firearm and conspiracy following his alleged link to the suspected kidnapper, Charles Orlu.
Ebulefu pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail to the tune of N1million while the matter was adjourned to February 10, for hearing.
