Someone has given a new spin to the classic “Alphabet Song” and netizens are not dancing to its tune.

The “Alphabet Song”, also known as the ABC song, is probably one of the first things children are taught in school but a new version going viral is not faring well on Twitter and social media. What has upset many netizens is the pause between ‘L, M, N’ and ‘O, P, Q, R, S’ instead of reading it together, like in the original one.

“They changed the ABC song to clarify the LMNOP part, and it is life-ruining,” wrote a user Noah Garfinkel while tweeting the new version.

Interestingly, the alternative version is not all that new and the track was created by Dream English — a website teaching kids English — way back in 2012. Nonetheless, it did not stop netizens from sharing their views. “Omg! It makes my brain hurt. It wasn’t sung the way we all learned to sing it,” commented a user on the newer version.

The newer version left many disappointed, including American comedian and TV show host Ellen DeGeneres. “The song that we learnt as a kid to learn ABC alphabets, they changed it,” said DeGeneres in one of her show segments before playing the latest version of the song.
