The body found in the wreckage of the plane carrying Emiliano Sala and pilot David Ibbotson has been identified as the Cardiff City striker, it was confirmed on Thursday night.
Authorities have identified the body inside the plane wreckage found in the English Channel as that of Argentinian footballer Emiliano Sala.
On Wednesday, the Air Accidents Investigation Branch managed to remove a body from the wreckage and one day later, Dorset Police have confirmed that it was that of Sala.
The AAIB suspended the search on Thursday due to the poor weather conditions, while the body of Ibbotson has yet to be found.
The Piper Malibu aircraft disappeared with Sala and pilot David Ibbotson on board on January 21, with the 28-year-old en route to Cardiff after having completed a club-record transfer from Ligue 1 side Nantes.
