Campaign Goes Wrong: Buhari, Others Stoned At Ogun State Rally


The President was stoned with materials suspected to be shoes and stones as he raised the hand of APC governorship candidate,Dapo Abiodun.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign, Monday went wrong as hoodlums greeted President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s national chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole with stones at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta.

As a result of the violence, activities at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, was paused for some minutes as bodyguards guarded the president to avoid being hit by the objects being thrown at him and other party members.

Buhari was saved by one of his security operatives who took the hit for him.

Calm began to return gradually as Governor Amosun appealed to the party supporters to show restraint and respect the presence of President Buhari.

The situation was later brought under control when the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, give a speech at the event.

Professor Osinbajo urged the party supporters to be in unity among themselves and collectively support the President in the polls.

Shortly after, President Buhari addressed the crowd while tension started to build up again when he raised Abiodun’s hands as the APC flag bearer in the state.

Some of the angry supporters threw things towards his direction but the President and other party leaders were shielded by a team of security operatives.
