2019 Elections: Accredited Observers Assured Safety – INEC, Police


INEC, Police assure accredited domestic and international observers safety during the 2019 elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Nigeria Police Force have assured domestic and international observer groups of their safety in Nigeria during the forthcoming general election.

INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Adamu, stated this at a national briefing for Accredited Observers (Domestic and Foreign) for 2019 general elections held on Tuesday in Abuja.

The electoral commission met face to face with accredited observers for the first time to discuss security arrangements for the general election.

Chairman of the independent national electoral commission told accredited observers that they are just to observe and not act as monitors of the electoral process .

The acting inspector General of police also disclosed plans in place to secure the electoral process and reiterated the commitment of officers to ct professional and ensure the election is peaceful, credible, free and fair.
