SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE WILL HAVE EVER SMASH FIGHTER EVER

Nintendo choose to play it safe with this year’s E3 keynote, focusing more on soon to be released titles that people will actually be able to play in the coming months like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Party, and Pokémon: Let’s Go! rather than offering updates on no-shows announced last year like Metroid Prime 4. If you missed the presentation, though, here’s everything you’ll need to catch up.

The obvious star of the show during Nintendo’s E3 showcase is Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which will feature a massive roster of over 60 fighters comprising every single Smash Bros. character to ever appear in the series, including all the DLC characters from Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS. It’s out on December 7th.

FORTNITE IS AVAILABLE ON THE SWITCH RIGHT NOW
It was rumored to be happening, and now it’s official: Fortnite, the biggest game in the world, is coming to the Switch and you can play it right now. For free! The Switch version promises to offer the full Fortnite Battle Royale experience, and it’s available to download today from the eShop.

SUPER MARIO PARTY IS COMING TO THE SWITCH
Mario Party is making its way to the Switch, just like all those early trailers of rooftop Switch parties seemed to promise all those years ago. Super Mario Party looks like it’ll be taking advantages of the Switch’s capabilities in really interesting ways when it releases on October 5th.

FIRE EMBLEM: THREE HOUSES GETS A TRAILER
Nintendo has finally taken the wrap off the new Fire Emblem game for the Switch, called Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The first console Fire Emblem game since 2007’s Radiant Dawn, Fire Emblem: Three Houses will be out sometime in Spring 2019.

GAMECUBE CONTROLLERS WILL WORK WITH SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE
Melee fans, breathe a sigh of relief: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will support the iconic GameCube controller when it comes out in December. You’ll need a USB adapter — same as the Wii U — which means it won’t work in portable or tabletop mode, but for Smash purists, there’s no other way to play.

DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ IS GETTING A SWITCH PORT LATER THIS YEAR
Nintendo’s own fighting game might have the spotlight, but tucked into its highlight reel was the news that Dragon Ball FighterZ and its incredible animated artwork will be making the jump to the Switch sometime later this year.

TONS OF NEW INDIES ARE COMING TO THE SWITCH TOO
The Switch is getting a pair of local co-op indies this year, with the announcement of Overcooked 2 (out August 7th) and Killer Queen Black (sometime later in 2018). Other, previously announced titles got updated release information: Hollow Knight is coming to the Switch today, and The World Ends With You: Final Remix got a fall 2018 release window.

DAEMON X MACHINA IS A COOL NEW MECH GAME
Nintendo opened its presentation with a look at Daemon x Machina, a slick new game that features mech. Lots of mechs. It’ll be out in 2019.

RIDLEY IS FINALLY COMING TO SMASH
Ridley — the giant, draconic boss from the Metroid series — has been a long running meme among Smash Bros. fans, who have spent years demanding that series head Masahiro Sakurai put him in the game. Today, that dream comes true: Ridley (along with the already teased Inklings) is joining the roster in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
