Communities in Rivers State are now living in fear as gunmen have gone on rampage, killing people.
The latest is coming from Isiokpo community in Ikwerre local government area of the state, where unknown gunmen suspected to be members of a cult gang, reportedly invaded the community, killing at least three people and burning some houses Thursday night.
The attack on Isiokpo community came a day after unknown gunmen also attacked Ula-Apata community, home of former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Chibudom Nwiche in Ahoada east, killing at least 10 persons, including a police corporal and also another six at Ahoada west.
Nigerian Pilot gathered that the suspected cultists, with military uniforms, invaded Isiokpo community shooting all through the night.
A source in the community who pleaded anonymity for fear of attack told Nigerian Pilot that the villagers woke up the next morning to see three persons dead and some houses burnt down after gun shot that lasted all through the night.
The source stated that the attack on Isiokpo community may not be unconnected to the recent killing of one Ebubedike Wabali, who was recently kidnapped and later found dead around a nearby forest.
“Since the killing of Ebunedike Wabali, the community has been having one problem or the other as cultists continue shooting.
“The development last night has forced many inhabitants of Isiokpo to remain indoor while some have fled their homes waiting for the intervention of the security operatives,” the source stated.
