Nigeria’s police chiefs meet amid tension over quit notice to Igbos in north (photos)

Amid tension over the quit notice given to Igbo people in the north, senior Nigeria police officers met with the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris.

Information gathered that the IGP on Thursday, June 8, held an interactive session with the officers towards boosting formidable internal security of the country. The conference which was held at force headquarters in Abuja had in attendance senior police officers from the rank of commissioner of police and above.

As reported earlier that a group named, the Coalition of Northern Youths (CNY) on Tuesday, June 6, issued a statement ordering Igbo people in the north to vacate Northern Nigeria within 3 months.

It was learnt that the group also urged northern people in the south-eastern part of the country to immediately start moving back to their various states.

The group threatened that from October 1, 2017, it will begin to prove to the whole world the north was no longer part of any federal union that should do with the Igbos.
